Kenix – There's Never Been (No One Like You)

Founded in 1976, West End Records quickly established itself as the definitive label representing New York City's disco scene, and Kenton Nix (AKA Kenix) is one of the label's most successful songwriter-producers. Though responsible for only a few dozen songs in total, he penned some legitimate hits including "Heartbeat" for Taana Gardner, which would later be sampled by De La Soul and DMX among others. 1980's "There's Never Been," one of his overlooked masterpieces, features one of the best bass lines of the era.
